The Birla Institute of Technology and Science also known as BITS Pilani is an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Admissions to all the Integrated first Degree programs in BITS, at Pilani Campus, Goa Campus, and Hyderabad Campus for the academic year 2013-14 will be made on the basis of a computer based Online Exam conducted by BITS, Pilani. This is referred to as BITS Admission Test.

BITS are referred to as the next destination for students who couldn’t clear the IIT entrance exam. It is reputed for its faculty and world wide placements. Many remarkable achievements have paved way for BITS to be remarked as one of the best engineering institutes in the country. State of the art features and experienced faculties, BITS has everything to be proud of.

Eligibility for BITS Exam

For admission to any of the Integrated First Degree Programs, candidates must have passed the 12th class examination of 10+2 system from any recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Further the candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, at least 60% marks in each of the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and should have adequate proficiency and fluency in English.
Only Students who are appearing for class 12th examination in 2013 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2012 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2013 entrance exam. 

 If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance will be considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed. Students who have passed 12th examination in 2011 or earlier are not at all eligible to appear in BITSAT-2013. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its 3 campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2013 exam.
Admissions will be made purely based on merit. The merit rank list of the candidates for admission will be based on the score obtained by each candidate in the BITSAT-2013. Moreover, their eligibility is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination, as mentioned.

BITSAT Test Format:

BITSAT-2013 will be of 3-hour duration. The test consists of four parts:
    Part I                         :           Physics
    Part II                        :           Chemistry
    Part III                      :           (a) English Proficiency &                                                     (b) Logical Reasoning
    Part IV                       :           Mathematics 
All questions are of objective type each question with four answer choices, only one as correct choice. Each correct answer gives 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark.  No marks are awarded for questions not attempted at all. While the candidate can skip a question for any reason, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer. There will be 150 questions in total. How to Apply

Willing candidates should register their names for BITSAT-2013 by applying in the application form online.  Complete the application form procedure online at official http://www.bitsadmission.com website and pay the fees. Also take the print out of the filled form with you for your future reference. If you make the payment by Demand Draft, then a copy of the completed application form along with the prescribed fees of   Rs. 1850/- , (Rs. 1350/- for female candidates) has to be sent to the Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani – 333 031. If you are using a payment mode other than DD, then the prescribed fee for BITSAT 2013 is Rs. 1750/-(Rs. 1250/- for female candidates).

Those who register for the test and reserve test dates have to download the ‘Hall ticket’, along with the instructions, from BITS website as per the schedule given earlier.
