AFMC Exam

The prestigious college is situated in Pune, Maharashtra.

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), in Pune, was established in year1948. A graduate section for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course was started in AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College) Pune India in year 1962 with the aim of inducting medical graduates to the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS). The graduate wing of AFMC is affiliated to the University of Pune and recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI).

AFMC (Armed Forces Medical College), Pune offers admission in MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) course on the basis of an objective type examination conducted across the country. It is followed by an interview and then when the final selection is done, candidates are admitted into AFMC Pune campus for medical training in the field of general medicine and general surgery. Duration of the course is about 4 and half years. The college is fully residential both for boys and girls candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for AFMC Exam

All the willing  candidates to take admission in AFMC MBBS course should be medically fit as per laid out standards. Only unmarried candidates are eligible for the course. Marriage during the course is not at all permitted.

Age criteria for AFMC Exam

Candidate must be 17 years of age but must not have attained the age of 22 years, if the academic qualification of the candidate is 10+2 or equivalent. A student who has passed B.Sc. examination or will be appearing in the final B.Sc. examination and seeks admission, must not be more than the age of 24 years.

Educational Qualification for AFMC Exam

Candidates must have passed the class XII standard/pre-professional/premedical or equivalent examination from statutory Indian University/Board or any other recognized Board/University as a regular school student in all the subjects opted for in first attempt with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology securing more than 60% marks in aggregate in the three science subjects taken together, not less than 50% marks in each of the science subjects and definitely not less than 50% marks in English. The candidates must have also passed an examination in Mathematics at least of the matriculation standard (Xth).

B.Sc. graduates with not have less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany or Zoology) having passed the class XII standard/pre professional (Medical) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and marks obtained as stated above are also eligible to apply.

Important:

A. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination (class 10+2 or equivalent) up to May 1, of the year of entrance examination may also appear for the examination provisionally.

B. The following students categories are not eligible to apply:

1. Candidates who have passed in subjects such as Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, Lower Mathematics separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science, Social Studies in High School / Higher Secondary (Multi Purpose) or equivalent examinations.
2. Candidates who have just passed Pre-University/Pre-Degree (one year course) or Pre-professional in Agriculture  /Veterinary /Dental Examination.
3. Candidates who have passed the Pre-professional or equivalent qualifying examinations as only private candidates.

AFMC Pune Exam Pattern

Generally, written test for MBBS courses of AFMC consists of the following pattern of test:

I. Biology(Botany and Zoology) (50 marks)

II. Physics (50 marks)

III. Chemistry (50 marks)

IV a) Intelligence, Logic and Reasoning 25(marks)

     b) English language and Comprehension 25(marks)

Each part above comprises of 50 questions of one(1) mark each. For each of the correct answer, 1 mark is awarded. For every wrong answer, 1/4 marks are deducted. Use of calculator is not at all permitted in the examination.

Interviews:

All the candidates qualified in the written examination are called for the interview at venue Pune.
